One of Curve Magazine’s “favorite theatre artists,” Renita uses art to advance justice. She is a highly respected, critically acclaimed author, thespian, musician, and producer, who has appeared in Off-Broadway shows, international theater productions, independent films, and television ads.

Renita has received numerous awards for her work including Ebony Magazine’s and Pine Sol’s “Unsung Hero Award”, All Out Art’s “Fruitee Award for Outstanding Play”, the “Telly Award” for best music video, the “Arch Bruce and Brown Play Award”, the National Performance Network’s “Creation Fund Grant”, and community service awards from the Fenway Health Center, Boston Women’s Service Club, and Eta Phi Beta Sorority.

Renita is the author of Rhythm Visions Never Do Be Finished (Rhythm Visions Production Company) and Shotgun Wedding (Samuel French). She has also contributed to several collections; some include Boston Theater Marathon Ten-Minute Plays (Samuel French), Voices Rising: Celebrating 20 Years of Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender writing (Red Bone Press), and The Best Plays Theater Yearbook (Otis Guernsey Burns Mantle). Some of Renita’s critically acclaimed plays include Jezebel’s Lipstick, Lo She Comes, and Blue Fire on the Water.
