Pillsbury House + Theatre (PH+T) is excited to announce the performances of the 2022 Naked Stages Cohort December 1 – 10, 2022, and following the success of last years’ streamed performances, their amazing work will be available January 4-13 virtually! Supported by the Jerome Foundation, the Naked Stages Fellowship is a vital program that provides mentorship and support to talented early career performance artists in Minnesota and is an important part of bold initiatives of Pillsbury House + Theatre. These are the inaugural performances for Naked Stages Director and Pillsbury House + Theatre Resident Teaching Artist Masanari Kawahara, who succeeded longtime Naked Stages Director Pramila Vasudevan in 2022.
This year’s Naked Stages series will present a full evening of exciting new works from Tumelo Khupe, Allison Vincent, and Marisol Herling as the culmination of their fellowship. Fellows were mentored by Djola Branner, an interdisciplinary artist/educator/administrator who combines movement, sound and light to create compelling portraits of American life for the stage, to help them bring their distinctive visions to life on the PH+T stage. Additional artistic guidance and creative workshops were led by Peter Morrow, Dameun Strange, Rhiana Yazzie, and Sharon Bridgforth during their fellowship. The multi-layered Naked Stages program challenges its artists to be their most bold and creative, and it challenges artists and audiences alike to push past their boundaries.
