First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in a baby carriage. Bright Half Life follows Erica (Sarah Agnew) and Vicky (Jasmine Hughes) through four-and-a-half decades: introduction, courtship, children, same-sex marriage to divorce. It flashes forward and falls back and sometimes repeats the same scene twice. Moments of the past collide with fragments of the present in this kaleidoscopic telling of the loves and loses of coupledom. Bright Half Life is a contemporary play with a theme as timeless as the ages. Bright Half Life was developed during residency at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference in 2014. Preston Whiteway, Executive Director, Wendy C. Goldberg, Artistic Director. The New York premiere of Bright Half Life was produced in 2015 by Women’s Project Theater (Lisa McNulty, Producing Artistic Director).
