Xiaolu Wang & Niky Duxburry | 38th and 40th and 12th Ave Xiaolu and Niky will create interactive, mosaicked chalkboards that allow for conversation between neighbors to happen in a visual way along their blocks. Prompts on blackboards will be “What does it mean to feel powerful as an agent in our lives, relationships, and communities?”
Lacey Prpić Hedtke Lacey will host a series of workshops for community members create Suffragette-inspired banners around the themes of resisting displacement in the neighborhoods. She will then lead a neighborhood march to cast a protective spell against gentrification that culminates in a feast in Powderhorn Park featuring food from neighborhood restaurants and cooks.
Valerie Deus | 35th and Clinton Ave Valerie is a poet who will create a zine called We/Here that will feature a collection of art from South Minneapolis artists.
Sayge Carroll | 41st and Chicago Ave Sayge will host her second Good Food Good Neighbors Harvest celebration in her backyards. Using her skills as a potter and sculpture, Sayge will create front-yard sculptures for three of her neighbors. Wing Young Huie Wing will approach people, businesses, organizations, and places of worship and play in the four neighborhoods and collaborate with them to make photographic portraits based on questions such as, “Where do you wonder about most in your neighborhood?” The resulting images will be shown at the Third Place Gallery throughout August.
