CAP – Easy Does It!

Pillsbury House + Theatre is so excited to present the Spring 2023 edition of the Chicago Avenue Project, directed by Julia Snider Nickerson, May 7 & 8!

EASY DOES IT features six original, short plays written and directed by Twin Cities theatre artists and performed by youth from Folwell Community School alongside local professional actors. Join us for a night full of alien invasions, hair flip battles, lost bookworms, supernatural chores, dog loving fairies, and a well decorated apocalyptic bunker!

Since 1996, the Chicago Avenue Project has brought together the Twin Cities’ best adult playwrights, actors, and directors who volunteer to work with neighborhood youth on the creation and production of an original play for the community. Individual young people develop mentoring relationships with at least three adults who are successful in their creative fields, beginning with acting classes and meeting with a professional playwright who writes each child into an original play, followed by rehearsals with a professional director and adult scene partner.

The Chicago Avenue Project is the proud recipient of a 2005 Coming Up Taller Award, given by the President’s Committee on the Arts & Humanities, honoring excellence in after-school arts programming.

All tickets are free and there is no need to make a reservation. Hope to see you there!
