An anchor for creative community transformation
Like No Other
About Pillsbury House+Theatre

Pillsbury House+Theatre is a place like no other. Founded in 1992 with roots going back more than a century, our historic home on Minneapolis’s Chicago Avenue unites award-winning arts and theatre experiences with essential community services. Our work supports choice, change, and connection in the lives of those we serve.
Each year, PH+T stages three mainstage productions, from classical texts by celebrated playwrights to courageous new work from emerging voices, as well as performances by early-career performance artists as part of our Naked Stages Fellowship. We also support two McKnight Artist Fellows annually.
Community engagement fuels all our work. Acclaimed programs like Chicago Avenue Project, Breaking Ice and others bring artists and community members into deep collaboration. Next door, our Full Cycle bike shop and KRSM radio station are sources of belonging and opportunity for the neighborhood. The chemistry sparked by these interconnected programs is transformative: unleashing creativity, uncovering collective solutions to shared challenges, and amplifying voices too seldom heard.
2025 marks the next phase of our legacy. Rising on the site of PH+T, a new arts and economic development hub called Pillsbury Creative Commons (PCC) is making room for more of everything. This block-sized campus houses youth workforce training, artist workspace, community events, business incubation, groundbreaking arts, and much more. PCC is how we empower our community from the inside out.
PH+T is part of Pillsbury United Communities, a connected network of social services and community centers that’s empowered individuals and families in Minneapolis for 140 years.
